Modifications to the air-conditioning systems by installing the Magneto Central Air Cleaner can help reduce the spread of the novel Coronavirus by air sanitization and purification. Here’s how a commercial air purifier keeps your indoor air safer.

Much about the novel Coronavirus remains unknown. Scientists have established COVID-19 is highly contagious and transmits via air. Researchers have established that the SARS-CoV-2 family of Coronavirus spreads when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks – the actions which expel respiratory droplets that contain the virus along with mucus and saliva.

When these droplets land on or are inhaled by people nearby, they could get infected. Touching the surfaces including door knobs, keyboards and computers where the droplets have landed also transmit the infection. The common guidelines of washing hands, wearing masks and physical distancing by remaining 6 feet away from others validate these observations.

Whether the Coronavirus, which is 0.1 microns in size and is airborne travels greater distances is yet to be known. Heavy droplets of 5-10 microns typically travel 1 meter before settling. Smaller droplets might evaporate, leaving the virus particles (also called aerosols) suspended in the air.

Recent research found Coronavirus particles to be active for up to 3 hours after being released. While initially the WHO held that the Coronavirus could not spread through aerosols, sufficient evidence reversed their stance. The latest WHO guidelines state that the indoor transmission of COVID-19 is possible when people spend extended periods in indoor spaces that are poorly ventilated and crowded. After 293 scientists asked WHO to change its stance on the airborne transmission, the turnaround was announced.

Due to the aerosolized transmission of the virus, every time we breathe or open our mouth to speak we may risk inhaling or exhaling the particles containing the virus. If an infected person has the virus when they speak the droplets come out of the mouth. The particles containing the virus hang in the air and anyone in the same room breathing that air can get infected.

The risk of infection through aerosol particles is even higher in enclosed spaces such as offices, restaurants and showrooms where the air is not being circulated often. Indoor spaces where people are spending prolonged time in direct contact with each other become breeding grounds for Coronavirus. Installing air sanitizers, commercial air purifiers and UV light air purifiers are being considered as an important part in resuming the safety of indoor spaces.

The technological solutions to control the spread of the novel Coronavirus

Although cleaning and sanitizing surfaces is an important aspect, sanitization of the air that recirculates in the buildings is important to control the spread of the COVID-19 transmission.

A commercial air purifier can sanitize the air which is being recirculated while filtering out small particles and biological germs.

UVGI for air disinfection

Technologies such as UVGI (Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation) disinfect viral particles using UVC light. The UV light sanitizer is being used for 30 years to sanitize the air passively. The UVC sanitizing lamp is installed at the height of 9 feet in the room to attract the particles that can cause respiratory diseases and infections. Being harmful to the human skin when in direct contact, the UV light filters are installed near the air conditioners. They constantly kill and remove 99.97% of the particles as small as 0.3 microns in size. The drawback here is that the UV light air purifier becomes less effective in trapping the Coronavirus which is around 0.1 microns in size. Also, the filters in the UV light sanitizing lamp need to be regularly cleaned.

So then, is there an upgrade available in the market that can trap and kill the smaller particles that are beyond the capacity of UVGI? Is a commercial air purifier the right choice for complete air purification?

Magneto Central Air Cleaner – for complete air purification

In the wake of COVID-19, Magneto CleanTech launched the advanced Central Air Cleaner, a commercial air purifier. Co-powered with Ultraviolet technology (UG), Magneto Central Air Cleaner captures the viruses and kills them ensuring complete indoor air sanitization.

The patented and innovative air sanitizer, Magneto Central Air Cleaner (MCAC) uses the antimicrobial UV-C rays to completely decontaminate the indoor air by killing more than 90% of the airborne viruses and infections.

With a high filtration efficiency, the advanced units can be integrated and retro-fitted with the existing air-conditioning systems to eliminate 2.5 PM particles, viruses, bacteria, fungi, germs, mold, toxic gases, pollutants and VOCs that create indoor air pollution. The UV light air purifier by Magneto CleanTech also removes airborne pathogens and cancer-causing toxic gases from the indoor environment.

The mechanism of air purification by Magneto Central Air cleaner

Using a multistage principle of “trap and kill”, the air sanitizer Magento Central Air Cleaner traps all kinds of airborne pathogens and particulate matter even of 0.1 microns in size (the same as SARS-CoV-2 virus) at magnetic stage using electron beams. The RNA of the microorganism is ruptured and destroyed by the photogenic energy of the UVGI system. The UVC rays emitted at the wavelength of 253.7 nm kill or prevent the bacteria from reproducing. The air is therefore sanitized and released into the environment.

Magneto Central Air Cleaner, the UV light air purifier is ISO-16890 certified and recommended by global regulatory bodies such as ASHRAE and EUROVENT. It captures ePM1.0 size particles with 80% efficiency. The combined power of magnetism and UV-C in the commercial air purifier amplifies the capacity of microbial elimination of even the smallest viruses.

Benefits of Magneto Central Air Cleaner as the indoor air purification system

  • The UV light air purifier, Magneto Central Air Cleaner is completely safe for humans because the UV system is installed in the central air conditioner. The occupants of the space do not come in direct contact with the UV light.
  • For commercial air sanitization,  the commercial air purifier by Magneto CleanTech is retrofitted in industrial, commercial and hospital buildings.
  • For residential spaces, the portable UVGI light sanitizer works effectively as an air sanitizer.
  • To monitor the quality of indoor air, the Magneto Central Air Cleaner can be integrated with an IoT sensor.
  • Along with COVID-19, the Magneto Central Air Cleaner is an effective air sanitizer solution for indoor air sanitization resulting due to indoor air pollution.
